Mindful Movement for Caregivers at the Brushwood Center

Thursdays, 9:30-10:30AM and again at 7:30-8:30PM 

Caregiving can be incredibly fulfilling but it can also be depleting. Whether caring for a loved one or working as a professional caregiver, self-care and self-compassion are the very best ways to prevent burnout, continue to show up for those in our care, and find greater ease and beauty in our daily lives. Multiple studies confirm that the benefits of yoga and mindfulness for caregivers include stress reduction, decreased rates of depression, measurable physical health benefits, and an increased sense of wellbeing. In each class, we will explore a range of practices that may include gentle and restorative yoga, somatic movement, mindfulness, guided relaxation, and meditation, all in hopes making space to move, breathe, relax, and cultivate compassion, self-compassion, and gratitude.

This class is for parents, people caring for aging or ailing loved ones (or both, in the so-called sandwich generation), educators, paraeducators, healthcare and mental health professionals, and anyone else who serves in a personal or professional caregiving role.

$15 drop-in rate or $75 for a six class pass.

Friday mornings

Miss Roni and Miss Ali are so excited to be teaching Mindful Fridays! Each week we will learn about ourselves, each other, and the world through mindfulness, movement, stories, and play. Key themes will include kindness, compassion, empathy, community, and citizenship.  Throughout the year Spanish will be incorporated into our daily routine.  We are looking forward to a big year of discovery and growth!
